The OBDSTAR MQB Collector is an adapter used with OBDSTAR tools, like the G3, to collect data from Volkswagen Group (VAG) MQB vehicles, specifically through the dashboard connector.

Function and purpose:

The primary purpose of the MQB Collector is to collect authentication data for immobilizer (IMMO)-related functions, particularly when all keys for the vehicle have been lost. By connecting to the dashboard connector, it facilitates the collection of necessary data from the Electronic Steering Lock (ELV) module and, in some cases, the Transmission Control Module (TCM), without requiring the removal of these components from the vehicle.
Key functions include:
  • Reading authentication data: Reads the necessary security data from the ELV and TCM.
  • Calculating IMMO data: Uploads the collected authentication data to the OBDSTAR server to calculate the required immobilizer data for key programming.
  • All keys lost (AKL) programming: Used in conjunction with other tools to generate a new key for the vehicle when all original keys are missing.
  • Component removal bypass: This method is often faster and less invasive than alternative procedures that require unsoldering or removing components.

How it works:
The MQB Collector is not a standalone tool but an accessory that works as part of a larger kit, often called the "OBDSTAR MQB All Keys Lost RH850/V850 Adapter Kit".
The process typically involves these steps:
  1. Connect the MQB Collector to the vehicle's dashboard connector.
  2. Connect the other end of the kit to your OBDSTAR G3 or similar tool.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to collect the necessary authentication data.
  4. Upload the data to the OBDSTAR server for calculation.
  5. Use the returned data to perform key programming or other IMMO-related tasks.
Compatible tools:

The MQB Collector is designed to work with OBDSTAR's professional key programming tools that have the appropriate software licenses, such as the
G3
