To fully activate all available functions on an OBDSTAR G3, you must purchase a full license activation from an authorized dealer. This online subscription unlocks advanced features that are not included in the standard key programming package.
Full license functions:
A standard G3 tool is primarily a key programmer, but the full license expands its capabilities to include:
- ECU flasher: Activates the full capabilities of the DC706 tool, allowing for ECU, TCU, and BCM cloning and flashing.
- Cluster calibration: Activates the Odomaster functions for mileage correction and other dashboard-related resets.
- Airbag reset: Activates the full P50 software for clearing crash data and resetting SRS modules.
Test platform: Activates the MT502 bench test platform features for testing and repairing automotive electronics.
Important considerations:
- Costs: Purchasing the "full configuration" at once with a new device is often more cost-effective than buying individual license activations later.
- Hardware: Some functions, like ECU flashing, also require accessory kits such as the ECM-001 cable and the MP001 programmer for "bench mode" operations.
- Free updates: The full activation typically includes a period of free updates, two years for IMMO and 1 year for all other activations. After this period, you will need to pay an annual subscription fee to continue receiving updates per activation.
